
Dr. Matt Larsen
Dr. Larsen is a passionate psychiatrist with deep roots in Southeast Idaho. A native of Idaho Falls and an alumnus of Skyline High School, he is double board-certified in Adult Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, committed to providing specialized mental healthcare to the people of his hometown.
Education and Clinical Expertise
After graduating from Des Moines University with his medical degree, Dr. Larsen completed his General Psychiatry Residency in Reno, Nevada, in 2013, followed by a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. His clinical work is distinguished by a profound interest in suicide prevention. He is an experienced practitioner of both Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), therapies he utilizes to provide specialized support for teens who are chronically suicidal or self-harming. His dedication to understanding the patient experience led him to once spend a day as a patient in a Residential Treatment Center during his training.
Community Leadership and Professional Contributions
Dr. Larsen is a dedicated advocate for mental health awareness. Since returning to Idaho Falls, he was elected the Chairman of the local chapter of the Suicide Prevention Action Network (SPAN). He is also a respected figure in medical education and writing, having won multiple awards for his lectures and poster presentations. His professional output includes three medical publications, alongside three published novels available on Kindle.

Known for his engaging personality, Dr. Larsen’s favorite hobbies are acting and singing.
